Description

The Atlantic Fruit & Sugar Company was the result of the 1924 reorganisation of the Atlantic Fruit Company. It owned acreage in Nicaragua, Cuba and Jamaica and operated over 20 steamships. It seems that bananas and shipping were the most important activities but it did also grow cane in Cuba. The only year in which the company was profitable was 1924 and it went into receivership in 1931 and was liquidated. 

Relatively plain certificate - no vignette. A stamp evidences the reduction in nominal value from 5 to 1 US-$. Punchholes. Stamped "Specimen", numbered "S13301".
