Description
The company was apparently set up in 1913 to acquire the privately owned central Altamira in the Santa Clara province, Cuba. In 1920 the company sold the mill on after which it changed its name to Maria Luisa. The mill was likely dismantled before the Cuban revolution.
Plain certificate for preferred stock. 00000-numbered, stamped “Specimen”, punchholes. Unusually high nominal value and reference to oro Español. The small share capital of 300,000 Pesos is also unusual and there is no split given between common and preferred stock.
In 1938 the mill is one of only two in Cuba given as rented by an operating company - if this was the case already in the case of the Compañía Azucarera Altamira it would explain the small capital as the company would not have owned the mill and lands.
