Description
The Compañía Azucarera Ermita set up in 1922 was the succession company to Ermita Sugar Corp (probably also a local corp as I find no mention in the US press). In a move similar to other estates controlled by the Atkins family a new legal entity was established but the management remained the same. The mid-sized mill was set up in 1915 in the Oriente province. In 1934 the estate was foreclosed and sold for a pittance and by 1938 owned by Central Ermita S. A.. The mill survived nationalization after the Cuban revolution and may still be operating today.
Typical plain design for this Voting Trust Certiifcate. These certificates would have resulted from the conversion of the 1922 convertible bond of Compañia Azucarera Ermita - which however was very unlikely to have happened in greater number if at all. 00000-numbered, punchholes and stamped “Specimen”
