Description

Godchaux Sugars was based on the sugar empire brought together by Leon Godchaux. Godchaux had started as a poor immigrant and became a millionaire putting together sugar estates across Louisiana after the Civil War.  Godchaux Sugars Inc. was incorporated and acquired the family sugar business (primarily refining) and was a major US sugar company. The company remained profitable through the great depression. By the 1950s the firm ran two largish refineries and owned considerable cane land. The company remained controlled by the family until the family sold in 1958 and the company subsequently went out of business.

Quite typical stock with a large vignette of cane being brought to a mill.

Stock exchange listed in Chicago.
