Description

Important company in Cuba. Incorporated 3.8.1915 in Delaware as part of the empire of the Atkins family of Boston. It constructed, acquired and controlled sugar mills in several Cuban provinces and in 1925 was in control of 9 sugar mills. In 1930 the company - by then the fourth largest producer in Cuba was put in receivership. The successor company Punta Alegre Sugar Corporation moved into textiles after being expropriated in Cuba.

Typical design for this certificate for less than 100 shares of capital stock. Vignette of a harvesting scene with workers, ox-cart and rider.

It is not quite clear as from when the company moved from refering to its equities as capital stock. The press uses the term capital stock from around 1923 and used common stock prior.
