Description
The Santa Cecilia Sugar Corporation was set up in 1917 in Delaware to succeed the Santa Cecilia Sugar Company which was incorporated in 1904 in Maine. The company owned the Santa Cecilia mill near Guantánamo in the Oriente province of Cuba. The corporation in turn was reorganized in 1929 and the property was sold for 75,000 US-$ and by 1938 the mill was controlled by a Cuban company. The mill was probably closed before the 1959 revolution.
Typical design for this common share certificate. The vignette shows a fully loaded ox-cart on its way to the mill. Stamped “Specimen” and punchholes. 0000-numbered. The year 1917 for the design of the piece is most likely but not certain
